A message from the Chairman....

When I entered the seed industry in 1970 the demand for agricultural commodities The odd sterling crisis or two gave us another reason to reduce our reliance on imported goods. In the last 10 years this situation has reversed and a combination of overproduction and poor prices has resulted in a general decline in the industry. In 2006 feed barley had fallen to £55 per tonne, a price last seen in the mid sixties. 2007 witnessed a dramatic rise in world agricultural commodity prices, again placing food security high on the list of priorities. Yet again, another currency issue with the pound sterling euro exchange rate will see 2009 focusing on our home produced food stocks. Imports will become expensive and in some cases unaffordable and demand once again should see the future for agriculture more encouraging. The seedsmans role, being at the top end of the food chain producing and supplying seeds at the start of crop production is as vital as ever. Our company is dedicated to the production and supply of these valuable goods. We offer a comprehensive range of cereal seeds both conventional and organic all grown and processed under our own control, in addition we are authorised distributors for the renowned Sinclair McGill grass, root and forage crop seed. Being an independent privately owned UK company we offer an impartial and dedicated service.
